LevTech describes their lineup of levels as “The Pro’s Choice.” In fact, that’s their slogan! Pros will certainly appreciate their compact frame and the ability to complete a two-person leveling job with one person. But what else do these levels have to offer? I got my hands on four LevTech compact levels to see how they simplify leveling applications and what they can bring to your jobsite.

So, what makes LevTech levels stand out in the leveling market? For starters, they’re adorned with an anodized finish to ensure durability and corrosion resistance. LevTech claims an “indestructible design,” which we can’t confirm or deny, but suffice to say, they feel very durable.

However, the real innovation comes in the design of these levels. They’re equipped with several features, including:

Additionally, many of them include a rotating ball-bearing point system, with fixed points ranging from 0° to 90°. Each angle marking sticks in place with a satisfying haptic click thanks to a spring-loaded ratcheting system.

The Mag Dog One level is the most basic compact level in LevTech’s lineup. Meant to measure 90°, it features an indent that’s compatible with most sizes of piping for a secure hold. The bubble level on this model is viewable from three sides, making it easy to ensure your pipe is level from any working position.

Now, we’re getting to LevTech’s multi-degree levels, starting with the LevTech Mag Dog 4. Like the Mag Dog One mentioned above, it’s compatible with most pipe sizes, however, it connects a little differently. This model, along with several others in the lineup, features a thumb wheel that moves a threaded clampdown attachment that lets you adjust between pipe sizes.

It also has an adjustable angle functionality, with a ball bearing point system that allows you to level at 0°, 30°, 45°, and 90°.

The Mag Dog 8 is really similar in concept and design to the previous entry, the Mag Dog 4. However, the 8 doubles the number of angle stops, giving you eight settings between 0° and 90° to better dial in your conduit bending. It brings over the same thumb wheel functionality, letting you easily work with a variety of material sizes.

The LevTech Xtreme 8 level nixes the adjustable thumb wheel for a strictly magnetic design. This enables you to attach it to any metal surface or pipe to level both horizontally and vertically. It still features the same multi-angle functionality, letting you choose between eight angle stops between 0° and 90°.

If you’re fed up with your normal bubble level, LevTech introduces a breath of fresh air with their lineup of compact models. They’re equipped with all of the same features we’re used to seeing in a level, along with many electrician and plumber-friendly convenience elements.

While they’re a bit more expensive than your standard entry-level… level, their ease of use and strong build quality still present a good value. Oh, and the lifetime warranty is a nice touch that tells us they stand behind their product. If you want to take your measuring and leveling game up a notch, consider adding one of these to your toolbox.
